Victoria General Hospital Emergency Department

Victoria General Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is a major renovation and addition to the existing Emergency Department. The new ED includes a three bay ambulance garage, two trauma/resuscitation rooms, isolation room, a cast room, a PV Room, separate major and minor treatment areas and a six stretcher reassessment unit. The planning of the ED reuses the existing enclosed emergency drop off and the existing stretcher bay as a renovated Reassessment Department. Special consideration was given to the integration/location of security in the planning. Other key objectives include a LEED® Silver registered mandate for design and construction, functional integration of the new building addition while allowing access to the existing emergency patient parking, drop off and entrances; and sequencing both the addition and renovations to allow on-going facility operations during construction.
